Who are iSeahorse?
iSeahorse science and conservation program that collects and studies important data on Seahorse populations.
I first heard about the iSeahorse project via a Marine Scientist called Tse-Lynn way back in 2013. She was visiting Thailand and was seeking out Seahorses in the Area. By Chance, I recently stumbled across a new dive site which I knew had a high population of adult seahorses. We arrange two survey dives and found one of the highest concentrations of pregnant seahorse in southeast Asia. It seemed to be a breeding ground. We counted and measured approx 30 seahorses for each dive If I recall.
It was both fun and educational experience and since then I've been passing on the story and notation of iSeahorse to everyone I meet who loves our little friends.
Who is The Seahorse Project?
Scientists from Project Seahorse and seahorse experts around the world will use your vital information to better understand seahorse behaviour, species ranges, and the threats seahorses face. We will use this knowledge to improve seahorse conservation across the globe.

Also referred to as a citizen science project it was designed to improve our understanding of Seahorses and protect them from overfishing and other threats.
Why Do We Need iSeahorse?
Millions of seahorses are trapped and traded every year, both living and dead, all over the world. They've been utilized as aquarium decorations and traditional Chinese medicine components.
14 species are Vulnerable and two are Endangered, according to the IUCN Red List, although 17 others are Data Deficient. This implies we don't know enough about them to make an informed decision on their conservation.
Seahorses are vulnerable to overfishing and habitat destruction, according to our findings. Seahorses, on the other hand, are difficult to study in the wild due to their chameleon-like ability to blend in with their environment and their near-global geographic spread.
How Can you Support The iSeahorse Seahorse Project?
iSeahorse needs more information, and YOU can help.Become a citizen scientist
Simply by adding your seahorse observations and helping to identify a seahorse on iSeahorse.org, you are contributing to seahorse knowledge and conservation. If you have an iPhone, be sure to download our app before you head into the field.
